1 design, 5 cards

5 different cards,  but all with the same basic design (with a little bit of variation here and there.)

The last one I made as part of a colour challenge for the "We stamp for Lara" blog, which raised funds for a little girl in desperate need of some help.

Medallion card

Just something I made a while ago that I thought I'd share.....

I made this design for my friend Anne for her birthday.  I made it with a silver base card and black sponging for her card, but I liked it so much I made it in a bunch of other colours, too - this black one is my favourite.

Like a lot of cards, this photo just doesn't do it justice.  The white dots are actually liquid pearls, and there is glitter that doesn't show up, either. Nor does the sheen of the silver ink.  Oh, well.

Wrapping paper

I sometimes use wrapping paper in my card making - I bought  this beautiful paper from Myer.

The wrapping paper matches the Purely Pomegranate cardstock so nicely! (yet another Stampin' Up colour that was discontinued - boo!)

Quite a simple card, really, but I like it (even if I do say so myself!).

Sharyne's birthday

Today is my friend, Sharyne's, birthday.  I had to make her a special birthday card - not just one from my stash.  I went through my drawers of stuff, and came across some old metal shim that I'd used years ago, and I wondered - how would that go in my new Big Shot?

I used my "Birds and swirls" Cuttlebug embossing folder on it.  The stamped Happy Birthday is from Hero Arts "Yummy treats" clear stamp set.

Happy birthday, Sharyne!

Interesting task part 4

So, the brief this time was 2 cards (1/2 birthday, 1/2 housewarming) for the pink-pirate-monkey-card-recipient's (see earlier post) parents, who are into martial arts.  Here's the results.......

Believe it or not, there's a ninja monkey on this card, but he's a ninja, so he's invisible.................. :D

Of course, any monkeys who practice karate would be black belts.  Naturally.

And I decided that the monkey on the first card without an eye patch or bandana needed a little extra something............ so I armed him with a sword!!!

I had great fun making these cards - I hope you like them and get a little giggle from them ;)

Interesting task part 3 - the continuing saga.......

Well, Alice liked the pirate monkeys so much that she now wants matching cards for the 1 year old's parents, whose birthdays are also coming up (I assume).  So 2 more cards with 1/2 housewarming and 1/2 happy birthday, but one is to have karate monkeys, and one is to have ninja monkeys.

Stay tuned!!!

Interesting task part 2

It's done - and I think I achieved what I was asked to do.

Pink, pirate monkeys - Happy 1st birthday..............

Happy  housewarming ................

 and all together..............

Whaddaya think?

Interesting task

I often make cards that people ask me to:  "My mum's birthday is coming up, and I'd like a special card, and it has to be purple";  " I need a retirement card for my school principal"; "I need a wedding card to match this wrapping paper"; I need lots of baby cards, but no pink!".

Simple enough.

A friend asked me last night to make a 1st birthday card.  Easy peasy.  What colour does she like? Pink. Any particular theme?  Well, she likes pirates.  And that monkey card you did was cool.  OK, pink pirate monkeys. Just got an SMS from said friend - "This is gonna sound odd, but it would be AWESOME if it said "Happy 1st birthday/housewarming".

No problem!!

Ummmmm.

I'll keep you posted.........

Delft pottery

Sue Madex taught me this technique, and I just tweaked it a little by careful choice of colours, as I was going for a Delft pottery look.  Basically, you stamp your image - I chose a white card towards the blue-ish end of white, then stamped Hero Arts "Flourish Flower Border" in Colorbox Royal Blue pigment ink, and colored the flowers in with a very pale blue Tombow marker (that colour is discontinued, I believe).  Then cover the whole thing with Versamark ink, then clear emboss, and then cover again with Versamark, more embossing powder, more heat etc etc etc.  I did this about 5 or 6 times, then put the squares in the freezer for a minute, then as soon as you take them out, crack them to give the impression of crazed pottery.

Believe it or not, these two cards are BOTH on a base of Stampin' Up Ballet Blue - a colour that I absolutely love, and that they discontinued! Boo! :(    The day I photographed the 2nd one was very dull, and I used the flash, hence the colour being a bit odd.  However, you can see the cracked effect on the faux pottery much better in that photo ;)  Below is a close up of another card to show the cracked effect.

Thanks for stopping by - have a great day!

Baby Cards

Hmm - Wedding card, then Valentine's day, then baby cards?  Natural progression? Possibly should have done the Valentine's ones first :P

I was kind of on a roll with these first 5 - I don't have much baby-specific paper (except for the cute little ducky paper) so just punched out a whole heap of squares out of various different colours and patterns, and put them onto fairly plain card.

Originally made this layout in blue for my friend and colleague, Lyn, as thankyou cards for when her baby arrived last year - I've now made it in blue, pink, green and purple :)

I absolutely love that stamp from Stampin' Up - "twinkle twinkle little star, darling baby, here you are!"

Valentine's Day

Yes, it is Valentine's Day on Monday and, although this doesn't affect me personally, I thought I'd make some Valentine's Day cards anyway (just in case)

For this one, I took inspiration from a blog post by Julie Ebersole, and she got her inspiration from Kristina Werner :)

First Blog post!

Made this wedding card this morning - quite happy with how it turned out, just not entirely sure how it will go fitting into an envelope :S
